Professorship Energy Technology

Welcome to the website of the Department of Energy Technology.

The Department of Energy Technology under the direction of Prof. Dr. Josef Kainz of the Weihenstephan Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, located at the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability, deals with the improvement of energy technology processes. This includes increasing efficiency and researching new fields of application. Both are necessary for the success of the socially desired energy turnaround.

Our activities focus on the modelling and simulation of combustion engines as well as the development of new control strategies for the operation of energetic systems.
One example of this is research into increasing the efficiency of (bio)gas engines with the aid of simulation calculations (thermodynamic engine process calculations).

Our range of courses includes basic lectures such as physics and electrical energy technology in the Bachelor’s programme as well as lectures and practical courses in the application-related fields of simulation and optimisation of energy systems, wind power and hydropower in the Master’s programme “Renewable Resources”.
